Charles "Chuck" was the Manny to my three boys ages 7-12 for several years. He was great, a true Renaissance man with background skills and experience in many diverse areas like paying for an advanced degree in history as a pharmacy technician for instance. I especially liked that he was educated and was able to help my boys with their studies and school work in creative ways. He struck the right balance between work and play keeping my boys active and engaged. He always went the extra mile and did more than the job required from cooking them great meals, tending to them when they were sick (my one son was severely asthmatic), consoling them when they were upset, and correcting them when they were wayward always following my lead and guidelines. He provided the structure they needed. Helping me raised three boys as really a de facto coparent wasn't easy (one son is special needs) but Chuck did an excellent job. I appreciated the time he spent with my children, the attentiveness he showed, and his devotion to them as though they were one of his own. My boys learned many things from Chuck and I am grateful as a single parent to have been able to give them this wonderful opportunity. We have kept in touch and my boys really look up to Chuck and I will lean on him and his expertise as an academic consultant (one of the many hats he wears) when it's time for them to go to college!
