I grew up in a household surrounded by pets. We've had a variety over the years (cats, dogs, birds, fish, sheep and rabbits). My parents were very loving toward us and our pets encouraging me to read and learn as much as I could about the care of each. I was taught from birth to love and care for pets as you would any other member of the family; to realize they have feelings and emotions too.
