From the earliest days of childhood that I can remember, I was in the nursing home. My mom has been a Registered Nurse for ALL of my life, and I have always enjoyed going to work with her and visiting the residents. There's something so sweet and gentle about the elderly population, and I love assisting them in whatever ways possible. I love the environment and appreciation that seniors show when you help them with simple deeds. I love the relationships built with them. When I began volunteering at nursing homes, I really began to enjoy the environment and people. I would assist the activities director with daily tasks, such as: bingo, ice cream socials, and pickup/dropoff at their room. This experience gave me patience and a great understanding of how to interact with the residents. I think that's useful in my interactions with people now. No actual exprienxe with aspergers though.
