About Catherine

I have been working with children for over 13 years, primarily teaching at youth surf camps. I have taught children ages 4 to 17 not only how to surf but, more importantly, how to be fearless, confident, and create core memories. I pride myself on fostering fun environments where my students can reach their full potential while feeling safe and supported. I have found that a positive and nurturing atmosphere can do wonders for growth in all facets of life. Currently, I volunteer at a youth after-school program called Concrete Queenz, whose mission is to bring skateboarding lessons to girls in underserved schools in South LA and Compton. I previously surfed semi-professionally and won a National Championship at 16. I now work part-time as a songwriter. I write songs, sing, and play guitar and piano, and I love all things creative, from painting to crafting. I believe that through hard work and a positive attitude, the sky is the limit.
