Hi! Having someone in your family with a disability can be very stressful when it comes to providing care. I've been in a middle school CDC classroom for going on 3 school years now. I provide 1 on 1 assistance to a child who specifically struggles with autism, a seizure disorder, limited use of one arm, toileting, and is pretty delayed cognitively. I also help out within the classroom with students who have all sorts of other disabilities. I'm fairly familiar with CP, learning disabilities, ASD, Down Syndrome, and many others. Even if I don't know the ins and outs of each diagnoses, I've been exposed. My job is to provide a safe and happy environment while the lead teacher provides education that each student will understand how they need. Also, I'm comfortable with an EpiPen, am CPR certified on adults, children, and infants, and am seizure trained as well.
