I have a lot of experience in child care specifically working with children with special needs or disabilities. I was inspired to come into this field by my cousin who is my age and diagnosed with autism. She is the same age as me and we grew up living next door to each other. I have a lot of patience for those who genuinely need help and this patience was developed through being exposed to those with disabilities at such a young age. I was a volunteer camp counselor for 6 years being in middle school for 2 different camps that tend to children with special needs on Long Island, NY. I also have had multiple school based fieldwork experience, most recently in a 3rd grade classroom and kindergarten classroom at Boland Elementary School in Springfield, MA. My latest job is with an transition program called College Steps where I am employed as a mentor for teenage students with a variety of learning and intellectual disabilities to prepare these students for life outside of high school.
