Following 17 years at IBM, I enjoyed 15 years of tutoring my two children from learning to read through Advanced Placement high school classes. They often brought their classmates home so that I could also help them understand material. I tutored a neighbor's grammar school children 3/days per week for a year until their grades raised to grade level (all as a volunteer). I have worked with young people for 30 years through work as a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, and religious education teacher. Professionally, I have tutored since 2014. I have especially enjoyed teaching preschoolers how to read and preparing them for kindergarten, as well as working with grammar school through high school students with more rigorous academics. I strive to explain the material in a way that connects with each child and their individual interests.

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Carolyn. She is the best tutor imaginable. She has tutored our children for years. Carolyn is versatile, teaching many subjects (e.g., reading, writing, handwriting, math, geography, science) to students ranging from preschool to high school. Carolyn is remarkable at personalizing the curriculum to a student's strengths, weaknesses, and interests. For example, she selects books tailored to their age, interests, and reading level. Carolyn prepares detailed progress reports. She shares valuable insights and suggestions. In many ways, she knows my kids better than I do. We learn so much from Carolyn beyond academics. She is great at instilling good values and good manners. She is an exceptional person - kind and patient, with a beautiful soul. I am grateful to have her as a role model for my kids and myself. Carolyn is like a treasured member of our family. We are so fortunate to have her in our lives. I highly recommend her.
