Since July 2015, I have provided respite care for four children, each born with unique challenges. As a respite care worker, I help the family find time to work and attend to other needs by responsibly caring for their child's unique needs. I hold several current certifications. Before becoming a respite care provider, I taught business education and computer skills at Public Schools for 16 years before retiring from teaching. I find this work rewarding. Working with parents and therapists specializing in physical, occupational, speech, vision, and nutrition therapies, I implement those exercises and plans. I hope you know the joy of watching a challenged toddler take their first steps when the odds are against walking. Sometimes, it's about finding the "code" of a child's communication, knowing when they're happy, sad, frustrated, or nervous. As I consider new opportunities, ideally, an infant or toddler is my favorite age to work with. References Available Upon Request.
