Growing up I took care of my great aunt and my grandmother both of which were in their late 80s/early 90s. This involved making their meals, helping them get out of chairs, sometimes helping them to get dressed, making sure they took their medication, keeping them acls active as possible, and contacting emergency services when needed while maintaining a sense of calm to keep them calm. I also moved in with my elderly aunt when she fractured her hip to help her with similar things plus bathing, transportation and errands. Now I am doing the same for a family friend and looking to see what's out there for when this position ends. Working towards getting certified as a home health aid as well.
