Hi! I'm Carly and I've had about 7 years of hands on experience (2 paid) with special needs. In high school I helped out with special needs students in the classroom and during lunch to help integrate them into the bigger parts of the school. For the last two years I worked with College Steps at CCM which was is a program to help special needs students get a taste of college and learn all the skills they need like planning, organization, study skills, social skills, and doing homework/class work on their own. It was an extremely rewarding experience and I'm still in contact with some of the students I worked with. I've worked with ages 15-26 with different types of special needs. Mostly Autism, ADHD, and Down Syndrome. I plan on becoming a clinical psychologist so any experience is beneficial in growing my skills.
