About Carley

My name is Carley, and I am a Maryland and New York State Certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of Hearing. I now reside in Columbia, MD. I am also certified in General education, grades 1-6. I have eight years of teaching experience, and am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). I hold a dual Master's degree in Education from Hunter College in Manhattan, NY. I began my teaching career working as a Teaching Assistant at a school for the Deaf in Brooklyn, NY, then moved on to become a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of Hearing for New York City Public Schools. Last year, my husband and I relocated to the Columbia area, where I worked the school year in a self-contained Pre-School classroom with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students in Montgomery County. Due to unforeseen budget cuts, my job was unfortunately eliminated. I am now substitute teaching, and looking to babysit/tutor for children in the Columbia area who are Deaf, or who may be interested in learning the beautiful language of ASL.
