About Carissa

Seven years of experience with SAT/ACT prep classes, as well as experience with the Redesigned SAT that is currently being used. I had taught these classes for a tutoring company for years with great success. My clients have reported making the gains that they hoped for and several have gone on to attend Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Central Michigan University, and one received a full scholarship to Oakland University. 13 years of experience working with Dyslexia, ADD, processing disorders, and other learning disabilities. I've worked with two reading programs both of which use Orton-Gillingham methods. This method is becoming the most popular method for teaching struggling readers, and is highly recommended by psychologists across metro Detroit. Six years of experience with all levels of math instruction. I was formerly contracted with a reputable company, where I serviced clients looking for elementary math, algebra, geometry, trig, etc.

Carissa has changed the course of my son's life. My son was diagnosed with dyslexia at 6 years old and at that time could not read words he had not memorized. We enrolled him in a program at Brain Spring, but between the long drive and the disappointing progress, I turned to this site and found Carissa. Carissa was like a breath of fresh air on the intro call. She spoke to me with real examples and shared nothing but optimism for my son's future. After only a few sessions I could already see a change in our son's approach to sounding out words. It's been almost two years since we engaged Carissa to 2 sessions a week. Over that time she was very prompt and dependable. Our son looks forward to his sessions with Miss Carissa. The best part, our son currently reads at grade level and is enthusiastic about reading, something we never thought we'd see. Do not look any further.
