About Caitlin

For the past four years, I have taught as a special education teacher. My first two years, I taught at a transition program at the University of Alabama, focusing mostly on job training, life skills, and social/self-advocacy skills. During this time, I also served as a personal care aide for a family in Tuscaloosa, working with a young man with MPS providing both companion services and general support with his functional needs. After moving to Virginia, I taught for two years in a high school in a self-contained classroom for students with multiple disabilities, including severe/profound intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and Autism. In addition to teaching functional academics and early transition skills, I also provided support with functional needs, such as g-tube set up and take down, toileting, daily positioning/lifting, and lunch/snack support. While I was in Virginia, I also babysat for and tutored a middle schooler in the area on the Autism spectrum.
