About Byron

It would be a pleasure to meet you! I've been teaching for a long while now, from Japan to the Oregon Coast, in almost every science offered, across many different types of school, and to all ages of young and not-so-young adults. I have developed a classroom and interpersonal style that leans heavily on my belief that all people are pretty amazing. I know from personal experience that confusion and difficulty are both (1) really difficult to work though sometimes and (2) necessary for real growth and learning. This emphasis on character development as the central goal of education extends, for me, beyond traditional subjects and curriculum. In the summers, I spend much of my time guiding folks in their first experiences with technical rock climbing and coordinating community events in the outdoors.
