I have not worked with special needs individuals professionally. But I helped care for my aunt, who had spinal meningitis at a young that resulted in her having the mental state of a small child until she passed. At that time I was a small child, but my siblings and I knew our aunt was different from the others and so we argued with our mom to take turns caring for her. She would in turn rock us in her rocking chair. I also helped as a student aid throughout my time in public school. I spent 6th through 12th grade helping with what was allowed in the Multiple Disablility and Autistic Support classroom. I would help out at the college if they had a program.
