About Brian

I've worked as a babysitter and tutor/teacher throughout my adult life, starting in undergraduate as I was obtaining my bachelor's degree and tutoring two 6-year-old boys in math and science. I majored in Chemistry and minored in Education, always interested in teaching science in some context. After undergrad I moved to Colombia and was trained to teach English as a Second Language (CELTA certified). I worked in Bogota for one year teaching ESL to children and adults in classroom and private lessons. I moved back to the US and obtained a Master's degree in genetic counseling. I've been working as a pediatric genetic counselor for the past 6 years at two different pediatric hospitals. During this time I also taught and mentored genetic counseling trainees as part of their Master's degree training and for clinical rotations. I have a passion for teaching and generally take a patient, gentle approach, tailoring my instruction to each students' needs and learning style.
