I first began caring for students with special needs when I was in 4th grade. I willingly spent my next 4 years of summer days volunteering at my local school that served children with mild to severe disabilities. My passion for caring for those in need grew more as I volunteered at Best Day Foundation summer camps, where I assisted kids and young adults with disabilities to get in the ocean water and boogie board, surf, and canoe. Through my college experience, I met with 4 students weekly who had mild to moderate disabilities and helped them by reading stories, being imaginative, and being a positive mentor in their lives. My hope is to continue on in what I feel my natural passion is to serve those who are in need of a friend and caregiver, who sees them as a unique, special individual.
