About Brenda

I'd describe my personality as spontaneous, friendly, and hardworking. I like tutoring because I love to impart and develop skills. I have the gift of teaching. I taught my sister to read before she entered kindergarten. She is 10 years younger than I. I'm looking for students of all ages who struggle with reading and spelling. How one spells is how one reads. I started tutoring 25 years ago. In my spare time, I like to read, ski, play picklball, and hike. One thing you should know about me is that I have lots of experience working with families and love to hear their concerns about their child. My skills include using Barton Reading curriculum developed for the dyslexic brain. I love working with young children to develop better speech and prereading skills. I've enjoyed success helping young children learn their math facts and developing handwriting. Handwriting contributes to reading skills and better testing scores.
