Caregiving was supposed to be a stepping stone for me but I fell in love and found my niche. I focus on health and safety but I also help my people live instead of exist. Simple things like painting someone's nails, taking them on an outing, having a meaningful conversation or making a special meal can make someone's day a little brighter. I've learned about recipients rights and safety etc. but have realized that most of it comes from the heart. I've been a caregiver for a year and a half and I currently care for three elderly developmentally disabled siblings and it's a joy but they are moving and I cannot follow.
