At a young age God began showing me that I was meant to care for others. I began college in 1993 with the intent of becoming a Special Education teacher. Due to circumstances I was only able to complete 3 years of college. I have spent a great deal of my life caring for children, the sick and/or elderly. I began private duty care 5 years ago and worked for the same family until last week when my 101-year-old patient passed away. He was an amazing individual from whom I learned a great deal. Understanding his need for independence while maintaining safety was an important part of caring for him. Everyone deserves to be cared for while being treated with respect. We are all God's children and each of us has something to offer to the world.
