I'm generally very positive person, very patient and calm. I was a RN, but I did not keep my license active. I started my career in geriatrics in 9th grade and fell in love with my job, and because of that I became a RN. As a RN I was selected to be the Director of Nursing of a nursing home under construction. I completely set-up the nursing department in the home. I was a hands-on leader. I returned to geriatrics after retirement as a caregiver. Most of my clients have some form of dementia. I prefer to work full time. Will work 12 hour days, up to 5 days total. I'm fine taking care of bedridden clients. My present client has no relatives in the state and I have been essentially in charge of the entire house and grounds plus all the care for the client. I take her to all appointments and keep the family up-to date on her care. The family trusts me to pay any vendors who are needed for maintenance of the house and/ or yard. Bonnie has been my mother-in-law's care giver for nearly a year. She has also been a God send. As my m-i-l's dementia has progressed, knowing that we had Bonnie to rely on has made the family's burden so much easier to bear. With the closest family member 1000 miles away, Bonnie has taken the lead in communicating information from doctor appointments, and in making sure the family is up to date on m-i-l's doings.
