My child care experience started with my younger siblings. I am the oldest of 4 and the 2 youngest siblings are 10 and 11 years younger than me. My next experience came from having my first child. When she was 21/2, I started working in preschool. The children under my care were anywhere from 2-5 years of age. My 2nd child was born 10 years after my 1st. I became a volunteer in the preschool department in church some 20 years ago and have cared for children from birth to 3 years of age. I also had a paid position as a child care provider for church as well for about 5 years. Throughout this time, I've had 4 nieces, 1 nephew, 6 great nieces and 3 great nephews. My first position included a live-in position for a 2-year-old boy and then I took a part-time for a wonderful family with 3 children ages 8 months to 6 years. After this part time ended, I was a live in nanny for 2 girls, ages 5 and 3 for 3 1/3 years. My current position of 7 years is ending due to the kids age of 18 and 13.

Betty has been a live in nanny for us since 6/2012. Of exemplary character, Nonnie (as she is called) has been an asset to our family. Our granddaughters came to live with us 1 year after losing their dad suddenly when they were 2 and 3. This was an adjustment that needed much attention. Both I and their grandfather work many hours with a lot of out of town work. Nonnie quickly gained the trust and love of the girls. As younger girls they enjoyed going to the zoo, book readings, theater and many outings. When they started to kindergarten and school Nonnie took on the responsibilities of a parent. Gymnastics, swimming lessons, church choir and ice skating lessons quickly came into play. She has taken the girls to the doctor, dentist visits and has joined us in teacher and therapist conferences to stay on top of what is happening with the girls. She has responsibility to oversee homework, buy and take care of the girls clothes and upkeep of anything girl related. She also purchases groceries for the family as well as making arrangements for and overseeing work and repairs needed for the home. We are retiring this year and sadly will no longer need the services of a full time nanny. I highly recommend Betty L. for the position of Nanny, House Manager or any other position related to home and family care.
