Safety has always been the core of my teaching philosophy. No matter how interesting, knowledgeable, pleasant or prepared an educator is, if the student does not feel safe physically, emotionally or socially then learning will be obstructed. I pride myself in being a structured professional who is also approachable with all students, staff and parents. I believe my job is to teach every child in a way which they can learn. I am ready to develop and implement accommodations, modifications, use behavior intervention plans, give direct and explicit instruction and use multi-sensory teaching techniques. Growing up, I often tried to help my brother (who has a disability) in any way that I could. I witnessed firsthand how caring teachers, that are willing to go the extra mile, can make all the difference in the world. This was, originally, what inspired me to become a special education teacher. I consider the education of a student to be crucial to the adult they will become.
