Caring for individuals with disabilities is close to my heart, as my both my brother and sister are profoundly disabled. A , my brother, was born with cerebral palsy and only the left hemisphere of his brain, meaning that he cannot talk or walk. He requires regular dressing, baths, and feeding blended meals by hand. My sister, F, was diagnosed with autism, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD from child abuse, among other medical conditions. Although she can walk, she can only communicate through limited sign language. I learned to care for them from my parents, who are both former special education teachers. I was previously employed as a respite provider through CDC Plus.
