About Austin

Hi I'm Austin! Ive worked with children for 15 years as a behavior therapist, substitute teacher, and classroom aide but the thing I'm most passionate about is 1:1 teaching/tutoring. I started in 2011 teaching English to children in Spain. In 2015, I taught English again to children and adults 1:1 and in groups in Mexico City. When I returned to San Diego in 2016 to 2019, I went back to autism therapy, but I missed teaching. When COVID hit, parents hired me to assist their kids school. This became my speciality and I did this for a 3, 8, 10 and 12-year-old throughout the pandemic. In 2024 I worked with a boy who had all Ds and Fs and needed to pass 5th grade. He was smart, but had emotion regulation issues. So I helped him with his school work, but also taught him coping skills and used reinforcement techniques to build his confidence. 4 months later, he had all As and Bs! I currently attend grad school to become a Licensed Child Therapist.
