I was 6 years old when my younger brother was diagnosed with low functioning ASD. Being three years apart I grew up alongside of him as he overcame multiple obstacles in speech, body language, and behavior. I experienced hands on what It is like to care for someone with behavioral issues. At the age of 12 I began watching my brother three nights a week as my parents had worked late and I did so until I left the house at age 18. I spent countless hours of my summer breaks in grade school and high school volunteering and attending his school event that were to include Neurotypical children with those who have Autism, Asperger's, etc. I have seen first hand caregivers who don't necessarily understand this boundary. As an adult I occasionally fly back home and help out my parents with my brothers transition into the work force. I am looking for part time experience within the Saint Petersburg area to help my community.
