The ability to communicate with animals has always fascinated me. I first developed my skills in animal communication when I was 7 years old. Intuitively, I trained my calico cat 'Tiger' to do tricks such as 'high-five, wave, sit, beg, and lay down'. I was the only person I knew with a trained cat. I affectionately referred to her as my 'cat-dog'. Throughout childhood I had pets such as rabbits, fish, hamsters, gerbils, and a snake-but for years, I longed for a pet dog. Their loyalty and friendship intrigued me. When I was 15 years old, I finally had the opportunity to adopt a Chocolate lab from a friend's litter of puppies. I adored her. We walked and jogged together daily, and I had my first experience with training dogs. In my early twenties, I adopted two shelter dogs and further enhanced my dog care and training skills with basic training and agility classes. My dogs were very much a part of our family.
