We negotiated for a month before our move and we continually encountered new requests: more hours than our listing stated, guaranteed hours, short shifts, no evenings or weekends (even as a way to get more hours). We understand that many nannies have clear, firm boundaries, but the slow uncovering of more and more requests was extremely stressful and we lost a lot of time when we could have found a better match. Other families may have better luck but we suggest that these boundaries are discussed immediately for the sake of the families and children who need care.
