My approach to caregiving is deeply rooted in play-based and child-led learning, and is inspired by Reggio-Emilia philosophy. Ash began nannying our youngest child when he was 18 mos. old and we were lucky enough to have her with us for 1.5 years. We found her here, but actually met her 2 years previous when she was a teacher at our oldest child’s preschool. Though, at the time, her experience was primarily with older children, a short conversation with her had us assured that she would be a great fit for our toddler. And we were right. Ash has shown up with love, curiosity, creativity, and reliability every day. Our kiddo bonded to her almost immediately and happily waves us off every time we leave. We love how she knows our child so personally and treats him with love and respect. She has been eager to learn and apply our parenting style, routines, schedules and all, and always asks questions about things she is unclear about or unfamiliar with. If it weren’t for preschool starting this fall we wouldn’t be ending our wonderful time with Ash. We were fortunate enough to also have her do the occasional evening babysitting gig for both our kiddos and greatly hope for that to continue in the coming years.
