My name is Ashley and I am a student at Dominican College. I am a Childhood/Special Education major with a concentration in History. I have worked with children as a camp counselor and head counselor for 11 years in a camp. I have also worked as an assistant dance instructor and a health director at the same camp. I also volunteer as a teacher's assistant for a preschool program in Yonkers, New York. I have worked with children ranging from ages three to 15, and I have received over 200 hours of field experience working with children in a public school system and for students with special needs in Orangeburg, New York. I know some American Sign Language and I am RTE and CPR certified. I love to have fun and I think it is important to incorporate fun into the learning process. I enjoy helping children with homework, playing board games, choreographing dance routines, and playing sports. I have a lot of patience, which I think is the most important thing one should have when working with students with special needs. I am very passionate about my studies in Special Education and I believe that is what makes me the perfect candidate for a job such as this one.
