About Ashley

I am a former certified teacher turned nanny and tutor. I earned a degree in education, specializing (and certified) in math, science, and reading, with a minor in special education. I have over 15 years of experience tutoring at nearly every level, from preschool through 8th in all subjects and 9th through college in various subjects. I was an 8th-grade math and science teacher, teaching standard, inclusion, and advanced classes, and prior to that, I was an assistant teacher for a mid-level college writing course. I've worked as a math tutor for a university, taught early reading and phonics, basic French, and created and taught science classes for homeschooled students in kindergarten and high school, including adapted lessons for students with learning disabilities such as ADHD, dyslexia, and mild autism. I pride myself on being patient, creative, and encouraging while explaining new ways to break down complex problems into comprehensible parts. I also do study sessions for exams.
