My experience working with individuals with special needs began as a young child. I grew up with a Deaf cousin. I am now fluent in ASL and work with not only the Deaf community but individuals with all kinds of disabilities at large. I have experience working with people who experience Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Fragile X, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and various mental health barriers. In high school, I was a Special Olympics Basketball Coach. During the summer I worked at NW Kiwanis Camp, working with individuals ranging in age from 6 years old to 65 years old, all with varying abilities. We worked on tasks ranging from social and interpersonal skills to daily living skills like brushing your teeth and taking care of oneself. Since then, I have babysat children with special needs and built this work into my professional life. I recently graduated with my Master's Degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. I now work as a Rehabilitation Counselor.
