Ashlee is unreliable. She responded to my application. My screening process involves asking for references and doing a trial run to see how my child and her interact. I asked her to send me references. She wanted me to let her know asap. That was fine with me as I’m also looking for someone urgently. After her references said she was reliable, I asked her to come to our house for the trial run. I was transparent with her about also interviewing another candidate. She asked if I was leaning towards them so she doesn’t “waste her time”. I explained my process to her and told her essentially may the best candidate win. Then she asked for $18 as it’s farther even though I had asked her if it’s ok that we live 40 minutes away when we first talked and she said it’s fine and quoted $15. Regardless I immediately agreed given that she’s a student and if she’s a good nanny then it’s money well spent. She says she’s excited to meet my child. Btw I have told her the reason I want her to come in at the certain time is due to my meeting. She asked me for our address. A few hours later, she coolly sent a text saying it’s too far for her so she can’t do it !!!??? Either she’s very unprofessional or found another opportunity closer. I would not hire her to watch my child given how flaky she is.
