About Ariel

Experience: 10 yrs

COVID-19 vaccinated

Hello! My Name is Ariel and I have been working with children for 13 years. Currently I'm in the process of obtaining my post-partum doula certification and nannying for a family part-time (contract ending in March 2025). I am familiar with Montessori and Positive Authoritative parenting techniques and use them often in my approach to working with children. I believe in promoting independence and providing a safe loving consistent environment for children to learn, grow, fail safely, and try again. I am often educating myself on the topic of birth/early childhood development and try to stay as current as I can with ever changing information. When working with a new family my goals are to be open to learning, observe and acclimate to the family's rhythm, use parenting techniques I feel are safe and effective, and create a trusting collaborative relationship with not just the child, but the whole family.

Ariel has been a nanny to our twins (18 months) since they were three months old, and in that time, she’s become part of the family. We initially brought Ariel on because her calm, confident nature was a comfort to us in our newborn days. Her experience was so valuable in those days, and it felt like we were constantly asking her questions about how to organize our day around these babies – and she always had an idea, or encouragement for us. As the twins grew, so did her knowledge; she researched child-led weaning and lent us cookbooks, so we could be consistent and creative in our family’s mealtimes. She helped get us through sleep-training and changes to nap schedules, always willing to be flexible with whatever update we threw at her. On a regular day, Ariel spends the morning playing, reading, or going on walks with the babies; then she prepares them a balanced lunch; puts them down for a nap; and is there when they wake up to handle afternoon activities until we come back in for baby dinner. She takes them to the library for books, plays them music, goes on outings to the park, and brings crafts for them all to do together. In addition to taking on daily care for twins, Ariel was also game to assist with medical appointments, and took great interest with the physical therapists and infant stim therapists that would come in to work with the kids. What we really loved is that we could tell that Ariel was absorbing what the specialists were doing with the babies, and then implementing those practices during her time with them, enjoying special projects and play to help them learn and grow. We can tell that the twins love Ariel – now that they’re walking, they like to greet her at the door when she comes in, and babble excitedly to her, telling her about everything that’s happened since they last saw her. And we can tell that Ariel loves the twins! She’s genuinely delighted by their antics, proud of their growth, and I love hearing her chatter away to them during the day. We also love Ariel! Oftentimes, we are working from home while she is working with the babies, which could feel crowded. But Ariel is excellent company. She’s content to let us go about our day without interruption but is great company when we do get to hang out! Our twins start daycare in the spring, but we’re already so sad knowing that Ariel won’t be there to hang out with them everyday. She’s an amazing person, a great role model, a wonderful nanny, and hopefully, will remain a good friend to the family. We want her to be in our kids’ lives forever!
