About Arelis

I am writing to give a warm and heartfelt recommendation for Arelis as a nanny. Arelis came into our lives shortly after the birth of our daughter and second child. My wife and I had previously employed two nannies consecutively to help raise our son in the three years prior to our daughter being born. The first nanny had been unprofessional and short-tenured, while the second had been wonderful for our son, but retired by the time he was 18 months old. Having experienced two extremes, we were somewhat apprehensive in seeking care for our baby girl. Arelis interviewed with us having experience as a nanny with one previous family and in helping to raise her nephew, who lives in her home. Her passion for caring for children was immediately apparent to us as was her willingness to learn the nuances of our parenting style. Arelis started with our family 2 months after our daughter was born and she proved to be deeply caring and attentive with our newborn. She has always been excellent at keeping up with our daughter’s feeding and nap schedule even recently as our daughter seems to think she has outgrown naps! Arelis had no difficulty with any aspect of day to day care, whether feeding, changing diapers, or cleaning up messes of which our daughter is proficient in making. One of our parenting quirks is in drastically limiting screen time for our kids. Arelis was able to accommodate this and keep our daughter engaged in play and interaction most days. I work from home, and Arelis was truly outstanding at keeping our daughter engaged and play, yet was quiet enough to not disrupt my near constant teleconferencing calls. Another quirk is our bilingual household, I speak English to the kids and my wife speaks Mandarin. We see learning languages as a virtue and encouraged Arelis to speak to our daughter exclusively in Spanish. Now, our three year old is fully trilingual and can switch between languages easily. Arelish does speak English well enough that I can converse easily with her whenever I get time to break from work. As our daughter has grown, Arelis has been very able to shift to meet her new needs. When our daughter grew more mobile she would drive her to parks and other outings to prevent her from getting too bored. Arelis has also developed a great bond with our son when his school has any of the many week long breaks at random and inexplicable times. She has always been able to handle the needs of both children when required (though we try to keep this limited). Most of all, I am infinitely grateful for the love she has poured out on our daughter, in ways far beyond anything we had hoped. She has truly served as a second mother and treated her work as something much more sacred than a job. She has truly become a loved member of our family, and as we move to a new state, we are deeply saddened to leave her behind. We recommend her whole-heartedly and would readily discuss our experience with her with anyone who is considering employing her.
