My training for my nursing career has exposed me to care for pediatric patients ages 3 and older. This care included assessing children and coming up with treatment plans for sick children, educating children and their parents about important symptoms to be aware of. Inpatient settings taught me how to really connect with children and ease their anxiety and discomfort during their hospital stay. This included talking, coloring or simply playing with children. I have also been a nanny for 2-3 years to adolescent and preadolescent girl age 9-15 years old. Duties included driving the girls to and from various activities such as camps, school events and play dates, watching the girls at home and working on arts and crafts projects. I have also been a camp counselor to a 4-year-old male with muscular dystrophy at Camp For All - MDA camp for one week. Duties included assisting in grooming, toileting, and providing safe care during the one week long camp.
