Experience: 8 yrs

I have a spent the last 8 years as a childcare provider helping children grow and thrive. My previous babysitting roles gave me the hands-on experience I needed to develop my patient and calm personality. I'm also a fun-loving and creative person who enjoys playing board games, puzzles, and outdoor sports with children. I believe in open communication with parents and will follow their preferred method to discuss their child's day or any concerns that arise. Regarding household rules, I follow the parents' lead to maintain consistency for the children. I am a rising Junior at an Ivy League University and am CPR and First Aid certified. I'm comfortable caring for up to four children of all ages. I'm also comfortable with pets. I hope to bring joy and make a positive impact on the lives of the children I care for.

I had booked Anya about a week and a half prior to my posted job, we did a phone interview and she seemed like a great fit, and I was excited to have her baby sit for us. However, the night before i was to be traveling, I texted her my address and got no response. It was about 9:45 so I figured she was probably asleep. The following morning, day of job I texted her again at 9am (she was hired from 11-7) still no response. called her at around 9:30 she picked up and hung up immediately. At 10:47 she messaged me that she had a family emergency and was just seeing her phone, that her calendar said 12-7 but she could head over immediately. I told her 12 was fine. She then texted me at 11:04am her mother had worries about being in my home with my brother who works from home and said her mother would be coming with her to make sure everything was ok. I was fine with that. By 11:35 I couldn’t wait for her to arrive without missing my train, so I texted her letting her know she’d meet my brother at the door. No response. 12pm rolled around and she still hasn’t responded or answered my calls. Mind you we had confirmed morning of and she called me to assure me she would be there. 12:11 asked what her eta was. NO RESPONSE. 12:29 told her if she didn’t respond by 12:35 she was no longer needed since she was very clearly ghosting. Probably the most unprofessional ordeal I’ve dealt with from a sitter. She had time to cancel and multiple opportunities to just say “hey I can’t come” but up until the very last moment possible was still giving me the impression she would show up. If she had canceled the night prior or at 9am when I texted her to confirm I still would have had time to find another sitter, but she continued to lead me on, and I was under the impression I had a babysitter for the day. She really screwed me over with her unprofessional ghosting behavior and thankfully I was able to convince my brother to take off work and watch my son, but imagine if I hadn’t, I would have been so stuck because I was traveling. It would have taken me two hours to get back home because I only left thinking that I had a sitter! If unreliable is what you want, you’ll definitely get that with Anya.
