I grew up with a family friend who had a daughter with Down Syndrome. I had the opportunity to babysit her and to just spend time with her throughout the years. In high school I was in a club called Peer Connections, which focused on building relationships with students who had mental and/or physical special needs. I loved this club and went into college hoping to be a special education teacher. Now, however, I'm not sure what I'm majoring in(education didn't seem to really hook me), but I do know that I still love helping people and building strong relationships(especially with children with special needs). I also volunteered at Menno Haven in their dementia unit and played games, talked with, and spent time with the residents.
