I'm a busy entrepreneur and was in desperate need of a reliable nanny to care for the little ones for consistent blocks of time each week while I work from home. Anna started off well. She communicated when she felt ill, stopped at the store on her way in and arrived on time for the 4 days she was with us. Everything crumbled when I asked her to take an extra shift, which she agreed to. My husband and I were traveling out of town so she was scheduled to be with the kids a full day from 5:45am to 2pm....again, which she agreed to do. I'm at the airport and decide to check in and make sure she's settled and has seen the notes left for her with further instructions. To my surprise she never responds to the text. I call, goes straight to voicemail. I called a few minutes later and the phone rings twice then straight to voicemail again. I'm completely understanding that this isn't her usual shift and the chances are she probably overslept. HOWEVER, what's not acceptable is that she never communicated that. Luckily my brother was able to step in and hold down the fort so we didn't have to cancel our plans. BUT to this very moment I have yet to receive a call or text of explanation or apology. I'm completely turned off at hiring anyone else fresh out of high school or who isn't affiliated with a nanny agency at this point. My business and family won't suffer on account of someone being irresponsible, inconsiderate and inconsistent.
