I have been providing swimming lessons to children with Autism specifically for the past 4 years. Also with my job as on a pediatric unit a lot of my patients have some form of special need. The reason I love working with these special children is because they bring a different kind of happiness to the world. The way they view everything tends to be very innocent and joyful. I have two brothers both with autism that I teach swimming lessons to and every lesson was filled with so much laughter. We would have to take some time to acclimate to the water before we could jump into practicing what we had learned the last lesson or learning new things, but no matter what it was everything that they accomplished gave them so much joy. It was an amazing feeling to help them feel so happy and help them learn new skills. In their own ways they were to grateful and loving.
