Although I have never been paid for it my grandmother was on hospice just about 2 years ago now, for 9 months. 6 months was the time she was thought to be on Hospice for but being one of two people who lived with her I was taking care of her in all of my free time. My dad worked a lot and when neither of us were home it was my uncle. The nurses would only come around for routine checks. I helped her change, administered medication, helped her move around, and put her mind at ease when her dementia would act up. Since my grandfather had passed earlier that year the rest of my family was so drained and so I was her primary caregiver. And she had forgotten everyone at least a couple times but she never had forgotten about me. I know what it's like. I know the love it takes. And I know how important it is for everyone the quality of care that is given.
