Having my own dog for a decade has given me a solid foundation in managing everything from basic care like feeding, grooming, and exercise to more complex needs, especially as dogs age. I’ve learned how to read a dog’s body language, how to comfort them when they’re anxious, and how to ensure they feel secure and loved when their owners aren’t around. When I began dog-sitting, these skills were immediately put to use, but it also introduced me to the joy of caring for different breeds and temperaments, which keeps things fresh and exciting. What I love most about dog-sitting is that it feels like I’m expanding my family each dog is unique, and I enjoy learning their routines and preferences. Some dogs are energetic and need lots of playtime, while others are more relaxed and love quiet companionship. It’s been so rewarding to see dogs adjust to their temporary home with me, and knowing that their owners can feel comfortable leaving them in good hands gives me a sense of purpose.
