I'd describe my personality as gentle, positive and caring. I like tutoring because it's so rewarding to help kids make progress! I love everything about literacy and I love helping kids feel successful. I'm looking for a job with young readers who need a little help with literacy, or who need to be challenged. I started tutoring during my 8th year as a first grade teacher. I wanted to be able to give kids exactly what they needed, one on one. It was so fun that I decided to move to tutoring full-time instead of classroom teaching! In my spare time, I like to read, watch movies, go on walks, plan trips, and hang out with my friends! One thing you should know about me is that I have a lot of respect for children, and my priority is making them feel safe, successful and capable. My skills include decoding (letter sounds, blending, phonics skills), comprehension, and phonemic awareness.

Amy is a pro. My daughter was so engaged. She was challenged, and had a blast. She had a huge leap in ability and confidence after each and every lesson with Amy! She used the short time together so well. My child was reading nearly the entire time. Can’t recommend her enough.
