Raising an adult daughter, with a cognitive disability has taught me the value of patience and empathy. I gained a comprehensive knowledge of the disability community. I became a strong advocate for needs and for others. Meeting people's needs was so essential to my volunteer job! Today, I am a senior, still wanting to help elderly people. I am extremely responsible and loyal to the people who count on me. When my mother became ill, I was right there for her. Her diagnosis of Dementia was extremely difficult for her and her loved ones. I learned so much about that disease that robs people of the lives that once knew. The transition was difficult but with my love, compassion and understanding she did well.
