My sister is diagnosed with autism, intellectual disability, epilepsy, and speech apraxia. She is very low-functioning and needs a lot of assistance. I have helped care for her since I was younger. I have much experience dealing with her communication difficulties, cleaning up messes she may create, helping her take care of herself like getting dressed and bathing, and just being compassionate toward her needs. I also have experience working with a girl with Down Syndrome, as I was her "Best Buddy" in High school for the club Best Buddies. Last summer I worked at a summer camp in which I was a one-on-one camp aid for a 10-year-old boy with high functioning autism. My major focuses on helping those with communication disorders, which can include a wide range of disabilities.
