About Amy

I began babysitting and caring for infants at age 14. After college I got married and became a career nanny. I did that for 4 years until we began our own family. I raised and homeschooled our 6 children, taught language arts, music, & drama in our homeschool coop. I am also a lactation consultant. My approach to childcare is rooted in nurturing. I build a trusting relationship by affirming and enjoying the child. Most kids trust me easily. I believe in patience, light heartedness, while being their leader so they can feel secure. I enjoy going on walks or taking the children to the park or beach if the parents are comfortable with that. (I have taught many children how to swim.) I am willing to help with cooking, light housekeeping, and laundry. Also if applicable, I can grocery shop, run errands, take children to appointments or play dates. Whatever you need me to do, as long as the tasks don't keep me from giving all the care and attention the child or children need.
