I really enjoy working with special needs children and young adults. It is rewarding to connect with them, including both in the classroom and in homes as a babysitter. Last summer, I had helped a teenage boy with CHARGE syndrome with feeding, toileting, taking for walks, and engaging in art and play. I also have experience with medication assistance, driving to different locations/appointments, meal preparation, reading aloud stories, and hygiene assistance. For the 2016-2017 school year I substituted in a Life Skills classroom at Andrews Elementary School, assisting children who had down syndrome and autism with handwriting, arts/crafts, reading, and recognizing colors (sorting) and numbers. I love to give support and encourage/uplift a child/young adult to do activities that inspire them along with self-care.
