About Amy

Prior to making the decision to stay at home with my boys, I taught for 10 years (grades 2, 5, and 7.) I understand the complexities that come with teaching and learning today, and I love finding creative ways to help kids learn and grow. Beyond sitting down and doing the work pencil and paper style, I enjoy bringing in manipulatives for kids to work with as well as using music, art, and other hands on ways to help kids learn. I understand the importance of educating the whole child, thus I am very flexible in my techniques and will go the extra mile to build a connection and create results. I have a degree in elementary education (1-8), and I have a minor in math. I'm a very patient person and am willing to sit down with each child individually to figure out what makes them special and to determine what methods will work for them. I can also help educate parents on the instructional methods used today. My passion is seeing kids reach their highest potential and gain self-confidence.
