I was delighted to hire Amber for a one-week nanny gig in Georgetown, SC while we were in town for the week after Thanksgiving staying with family. My husband and I both work remotely, and we hired Amber for Monday through Friday to watch our 1 and 4 year old boys during the day while we worked. We were at the house; we just needed someone who could play with the boys and keep them distracted during important work calls and web meetings. On Day 1 (of the supposed 5 we hired her), she was punctual, kind and great with the boys. On Day 2, she was punctual and kind. We paid her at the end of each day. On Day 3, she no-showed. No call. No text. No excuse. No contact whatsoever. I texted her to make sure she was okay. No response. I called her several times throughout the day; all went straight to voicemail. I searched for a traffic incident website for the area, worried she'd gotten into an accident. I messaged her through Care.com. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. She ghosted our family with no explanation. I found her on Instagram, and she had gone to get a holiday manicure that day instead. So there's that.
