About Amaya

My name is Amaya and I'm an aspiring pediatric mental health counselor. I have a calm and empathetic demeanor and love art, nature and cooking. I'm saving up for grad school and have been working with young children since I was 14! Now at 24, I've graduated college with a degree in Social and Behavioral Science and have professional experience with ages 2-12. During college I was a substitute teacher and a behavioral health professional. After graduating I worked as a tutor, an early literacy interventionist, and a preschool assistant teacher. I have a huge family including two special needs children whom I have helped take care of for 8 years. I'm certified in CPR and TEFL. I have experience working with children with autism, ADHD and English language learners. My goal is to provide a safe and tranquil environment in which kids have the freedom to express themselves and have fun. I'm very adaptable. In my personal time I enjoy creating new recipes, painting, shelling and running!
