About Amanda

I am a caring, supportive and patient person with a Master's degree in special education. I have over 20 years of experience helping students learn. I enjoy tutoring because helping students improve their confidence, academic skills, executive function skills, and stamina for schoolwork is incredibly rewarding. I believe in the importance of hard work and dedication to learning. I understand that challenging behaviors are often the result of a lack of confidence in one's abilities and I help students move past this. I am creative and flexible and I look for new ways to help all students learn. As a full-time elementary school teacher, I am comfortable teaching all subject areas. As a special educator I have knowledge and resources for teaching students who struggle with reading/literacy (dyslexic learners), math and executive functioning skills (especially for learners with ADHD and/or ASD)
